I recently was speaking with a client who has their home listed on the market with us. They were raising the concern that the market seems slow and was asking if it was the current economy and people were afraid to invest. My answer was people don’t ‘play’ the real estate market.
Yes, there is a certain small percentage that invest in properties only for financial gain. However, most of us just want a roof over their head. If they can upgrade their lifestyle that is a bonus. People are still working, transferring jobs, leaving the province, immigrating to Canada, getting married, having children, having children move out, having parents move in and passing on. The key is that life happens between real estate transactions. This is what matters, not some theoretical gain or loss.
I know a lot of you want to know if prices are up or down, if you were buying or selling how long would it take and where the opportunities in the real estate market are. Those are all important questions that I can answer. There first two are relatively straight forward. The last one usually depends on what you hope to achieve.
If you are thinking of buying or selling you should be making your decisions on what is best for your hopes and dreams, not if the interest rate is at a certain level. Don’t play the market. Live your best life.
